The Chester County Trail Club is a group of individuals who enjoy hiking, backpacking and other outdoor recreational activities. Club members also participate in building, maintaining and advocating for the protection of trails for public use.

Whether you've logged a zillion miles or have never been on a hike before, you are sure to find something that piques your interest in our extensive schedule.

CCTC schedules hikes throughout the week as well as a monthly Full Moon hike. All hikes are led by member volunteers. The hike description includes the degree of difficulty so you can choose one that matches your ability. Check out the Hiking Tips page for detailed information.

Club members also enjoy many social gatherings such as the annual banquet that honors those who have hiked the most miles during the year.

    Meet Hike Leader George March, 610.384.3753 (H), at 9:30 AM in the area behind the Arboretum’s Visitor Center for a hike exploring the Arboretum’s outer, inner, and connecting trails.

    This is a joint hike with Tyler Arboretum members, and members of the public are also invited to participate. Tyler membership, a guest pass, or payment of entry fee is required. Admissions are: Adults (ages 18-64): $18; Seniors (65+), and Veterans: $15; Military, and children ages 3-17, and students with valid ID: $10; Tyler members - Free. To expedite entry processing through the Visitor Center, Tyler is requesting pre-registration from their Website’s Event Calendar page (https://tylerarboretum.org/calendar).  CCTC does not have a registration requirement; there is no limit on the number of hikers. The gate to the parking lot opens at 9:00 AM; park in the lot. Sign in with the hike leader on the Club’s sign-in sheet then check in at the Visitor Center window. Proceed to circle-up at 9:30 AM on the grass area in front of the Barn.

    Directions: From West Chester travel south on route PA 352 (Middletown Road), turn east (left) onto Forge Road to merge with Painter Road, then 400 yards south to entry gate and parking lot on the left.

We will walk by the Empire State Building, Grand Central Station, U.N. headquarters etc. We will take an aerial tram from Manhattan to Roosevelt Island and back (one way fare is $3.25). Meet at the Penn Station at the corner of 33rd Street and 8th Avenue at 10 am. Bring water and lunch or purchase lunch on a hike as there will be a few lunch options available on Roosevelt Island. After crossing Ship Road, go 0.1miles and take a right turn into the parking lot. Please do not go to Church Farm Lane (Exton Park Entrance). Bring water and snacks. Many bail-out points are available, ask the HL if you want to bailout early.

    Directions:  From Route 30 get on Route 113 N. Turn left on Peck Rd. (Right turn is Whitford Hill Rd). Peck Rd ends at Dowlin Forge Rd. Turn left on Dawlin Forge Rd. Stay on Dowlin Forge Rd till a T junction. Turn right on Shelmire Rd. Shelmire Rd ends at Dorlan Mill Road. Turn Left on Dorlan Mill rd. The parking lot is on the left just before the Brandywine creek bridge to Route 282.

    The hike is from Lehigh Gap to the Delps Trailhead. This will be a shuttle hike. Bring water, snack, lunch. Directions: Meet at 9:00 at the Delps Trail parking area, 1179 Game Land Rd, Danielsville, PA 18038. Take I-476 N and US-22 E to PA-987 N/Airport Rd in Hanover Township. Take the PA-987 N/Airport Rd exit from US-22 E. Continue on Airport Rd. Turn left onto W Main Blvd, turn right onto Grouse Dr, Turn left onto Monocacy Dr, Continue onto PA-946 W/Mountain View Dr, Turn right onto Point Phillips Rd, left onto S Delps Rd and left onto W Scenic Dr/Sr4014 right onto Morse Rd, to Game Land Rd in Danielsville. Bail out points will be available for shorter hikes. The hike may include walking on flat land (1-2 miles), rolling hills (4-5 miles) and McAdam (1-1.5 mile). Directions:  From Route 100/Rt 30: Go on 100 North, turn right on Swedesford Rd. After crossing Ship Road, go 0.1miles and take a right turn into the parking lot. Bring water and snacks. Many bail-out points are available, ask the HL if you want to bailout early.

    This is a joint hike with Tyler Arboretum members, and members of the public are also invited to participate. Tyler membership, a guest pass, or payment of entry fee is required.     The Standing Stone Trail (SST) is an 80-mile trail (formerly known as the Link Trail) that traverses the ridge and valley region of south-central Pennsylvania. It connects the Mid State Trail and Tuscarora Trail, and it is a component of the Great Eastern Trail network. We will be day hiking the northern 3 sections of the SST where it intersects with the Mid-State Trail.  June 18 is a travel day with 3 days of day hiking.

One small brook crossing. Directions: Coming from east or west, take Goshen Road. Grubbs road forms a “T” at Goshen Road so you will turn either left or right and go north approximately ¼ mile to the parking lot on the right-hand side. Fort Delaware is nestled along the Delaware River, this former Civil War camp held thousands of Confederate solders. If time permits, we may travel to Fort Dupont off of Route 9 or wander around the village of Delaware City. Those who would like can stay for lunch as a group  or on their own.  .
